Crochet African Flower Bag

 

Crochet African Flower Bag!
I created 6 African flowers to create this purse with a G hook. I used medium worsted yarn. F hook for the top trim. The purse measures 8 by 5 inches. This crochet African flower bag turned out so nicely!

Then I sewed the 6 flowers together to create the purse, which is best shown in the video.

Abbreviations

sc=single crochet

sl st=slip stitch 

dc=double crochet 

tr=treble crochet

ch=chain

2dctog=2 double crochet together decrease

hdc=half double crochet

Rnd 1: G hook, with medium worsted pink yarn, In the Magic circle, ch 3, 11 dc, sl st to join, ch 1, pull through, Fasten off.

Rnd 2: with green yarn, sl st into the space between the stitches, ch 3, dc, ch 1, 2 dc, skip 2 stitches,*then in between the stitches, 2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc, skip two stitches, *Repeat around, 

Rnd 3: sl st into the chain 3, ch 1, sl st into the chain 1 space, ch 3, work 6 dc in the space, *work 7 dc in the next ch 1 space, *Repeat around, sl st into chain 3. ch 1, pull through, fasten off

Rnd 4: with light green yarn, ch 1, *sc in the next 7 stitches, dc in the stitch below (best shown in video) yarn over, insert your hook to draw up a loop and yarn over and pull through both loops and yarn over and pull through both loops(its a dc in the stitch below, best shown in video), *Repeat around,  sl st in beg stitch

Rnd 5: sl st with white yarn, sc in the next 4, sc, ch 1, sc in the next stitch, (center of the petal) sc to the next center of the flower, then sc, ch 1, sc, *Repeat around, sl st

Sew the flowers together to create the purse. Best shown in the video. About the 10 minute mark in the video.

Top of the purse: All done in the back loop of the stitch.

F hook

White yarn, In the corner of the flower for the top trim, sl st, ch 3, 2dctog in backloops (decrease in two stitches), *dc in the next 7 backloops, 

hdc, sc in the next 4 stitches, hdc, dc in the next 7 stitches, 2dctog, *Repeat around to the beginning. sl st

Rnd 2: ch 3, 2dctog, *dc in the next 7 stitches, hdc in the next 5 stitches, dc in the next 7 stitches, 3dctog decrease, *Repeat around, sl st on top of the chain 3.

Rnd 3: sl st with green yarn, hdc in each stitch around. Fasten off and Weave in your ends. I hope you enjoyed this crochet african flower bag!
