Crochet Mittens Tutorial: A beginner's guide

I wanted to make some Crochet Mittens for myself. I already have a cream scarf and headband for the winter, so I wanted to add some Cream colored mittens to go with it. These Mittens are warm and cozy and I can't wait to wear them! Learn how to crochet mittens in this beginner's guide. These mittens are perfect for the cold weather, and they're easy to follow. If you're a beginner crocheter, then this tutorial is for you. In this video, you'll learn how to crochet the basic stitches and how to make the mittens. Once you've completed this tutorial, you'll be ready to start crocheting your own mittens!

Supplies:
H hook
Cream Red heart yarn
Yarn needle

Abbreviations:
ch=chain
sl st=slip stitch
sc=single crochet
dc=double crochet
ch=chain
2sctog=2 single crochet together decrease
2hdctog=2 half double crochet together decrease

I measured my wrist, and they were about 6.5-6.75 inches around. These mittens fit nicely around my wrist, you can always make your cuff bigger by adding more rows, or smaller too by making fewer rows for the cuff.

Make 2 Mittens, H hook

Row 1: CUFF: chain 9, work sc in each ch across, turn -8 sc (these numbers at the end may vary for you, but its an estimate)

Rows 2-28: sc in each back loop across, turn *Repeat to 28 rounds, -8sc

Rnd 29: fold the rows of 28 in half and sc across the edges to close it to make a cuff

Rnd 30: sc in each sc around, sl st -28sc
Rnd 31: hdc in each sc around, work in continual rounds now, without a slip stitch, use a marker to keep track of your rounds.

Rnd 32: hdc in the next hdc, 2hdc in the next, *Repeat around, -42 hdc

Rnds 33-37: hdc in each hdc around, *Repeat for 5 rounds, -42 hdc

Rnd 38: THUMB: hdc in the next 6 hdc, ch 2, Skip the next 9 hdc, hdc in each hdc around, -32 hdc

Rnd 39: hdc in each hdc around, 2hdc in the ch 2 space, hdc in each hdc around, -34 hdc

Rnd 40: *hdc in next 4 hdc, 2hdctog decrease, *Repeat around, -29 hdc

Rnds 41-43: hdc in each hdc around, *Repeat three times around, -29 hdc

Rnd 44: hdc in next 3 hdc, 2hdctog decrease, *Repeat around, -24 hdc

Rnds 45-49: hdc in next hdc around, *Repeat 5 times

Rnd 50: 2hdctog decrease, Work this Decrease around 13 times, so (2hdctog) 13 times, -13 hdc

Rnd 51: sl st in next 5 hdc across to close the top of the mitten, Fasten off and Weave in the ends

THUMB: sl st into the opening of the thumb,

Rnds 1-2: sc in each hdc around twice. work in continual rounds with out a slip stitch

Rnd 3: sc2tog, sc in next sc, *Repeat around

Rnds 4-8: sc in each sc around, *Repeat 5 times

Rnd 9: 2sctog around until the thumb close, sl st, Fasten off and Weave in the ends.

Would love to make these. You state a yarn used but not how much the mittens will take?
