How to Crochet a Sunflower Tutorial


This Sunflower is great hats and many other patterns. I love this type of flower and how it turned out. It's perfect for the summer! I made with a H hook and medium worsted yarn. H hook 

Abbreviations:
sl st=slip stitch
ch=chain
sc=single crochet

Sunflower Tutorial


Rnd 1: Chain 5, sl st to join
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 8 sc in the ring, sl st in beg stitch.

Rnd 3: In the beginning stitch of the first sc, *Yarn over, insert hook in the stitch, Pull up your yarn, yarn over, insert your hook in the stitch and pull up the yarn and yarn over and insert your hook and pull up the yarn, yarn over and pull through all loops on the hook, *Repeat again in the same stitch, yarn over and pull through all loops on the hook. So Two cluster stitches in the each sc around

Insert hook in the next sc, *Repeat as seen above in Rnd 3.
Repeat around for total of 16 cluster stitches
Fasten off.

Rnd 4: Sl st with yellow yarn into one of the cluster stitches, Chain 4(counts as Treble crochet), work 4 treble crochet in the same stitch, *pull up the loop, take your hook, go to the top of the chain 4, and pull the loop of the last treble crochet into the chain 4, and sl st. Then ch 3. 

**work 5 treble crochet in the next stitch, pull up the loop, take your hook, go to the top of the first treble crochet, and pull the loop of the last treble crochet into the first treble crochet, sl st **Repeat for a total of 16 Petals. Fasten off and Weave in the ends.

On the video, you make 3 chains between each petal, but your instructions do not say to make these 3 chains. I used the printed instructions for my first sunflower but the petal points are not as obvious. In other words, the instructions need to be corrected. Otherwise, the result is amazing and just what I was looking for. I have made 3 other sunflower grapevine wreaths and this is my favorite. Thanks!!
