Easy Crochet Baby Blanket Tutorial for Beginners

 



I created this crochet baby blanket with medium worsted yarn and a F hook. 



151 plus 3 for a baby blanket

multiples of 9 + 7, then add 3 for the turning chain.

Abbreviations

ch=chain 

sc=single crochet

hdc=half double crochet

dc=double crochet

sl st=slip stitch

Row 1: I started with purple yarn and F hook, Create a loose chain of 151 plus 3

dc in the third chain from the hook, dc in each chain across to the end. Turn

Row 2: I added white yarn, sl st

Ch 3, dc in the next three stitches, ch 3, skip 3 stitches, work dc in next 3 stitches, *Repeat across, end with with dc in the last 4 stitches, Turn

Row 3: Sl st with blue yarn, ch 1, sc, ch 3, 

*dc in the next 3 previous skipped stitches underneath the chain 3, ch 3 *Repeat across, end with a chain 3, sc in the last stitch, pull purple through to start the next Row

Row 4: Repeat Row 2, end with ch 3, dc in the last 4 stitches, pull your white yarn to start the next Row.

Row 5: Repeat Row 3, ch 3, sc in the last stitch, pull purple through to start the next Row

Alternate between Rows 4 and 5 until you have your desired length. 

How to finish the top to match the bottom, this will be your last row. 

Last Row: ch 3, dc in the next 3 stitches, hdc in the next 3 stitches, *dc in the next 3 stitches, hdc in the next 3 stitches, *Repeat across. end with dc in the last 4 stitches. 

Weave in your ends when finished.
