Crochet Doily for Beginners Tutorial




This doily pattern can be done in any type of yarn or hook size. It measures 8 inches by 8 inches. It was done in cotton yarn and an I hook. It looks so pretty when finished and is great for any planter or table! 

Abbreviations:
ch=chain
sl st=slip stitch
dc=double crochet

Round 1:
Chain 4, sl st to join to create a ring. 
Rnd 2: Ch 3, counts as a dc, work 11 dc in the ring. sl st in the beginning of the ch 3.
Rnd 3: Ch 4, dc in the same stitch as the ch 3, ch 2, *dc in the next stitch, ch 1, dc, ch 2, *Repeat in around, sl st in the beg of the ch 3.
Rnd 4: sl st into the chain 1, ch 3, work 2 dc in the chain 1, *ch 2, work 3 dc in the next ch 1 space, *Repeat around, sl st in the beg of the ch 3. 
Rnd 5: ch 3, 2 dc in the next dc, dc in the next dc, ch 2, *dc in the next dc, 2 dc in the next, dc in the next dc, ch 2, *Repeat, end with ch 2, sl st in the beg of the ch 3. 
Rnd 6: ch 3, dc in the next dc, ch 2, dc in the next dc twice, ch 2, *dc in the next dc twice, ch 2, dc in the next twice, *Repeat around, end with ch 2, sl st on top of the ch 3. 
Rnd 7: sl st into the chain 2, ch 3, work 2 dc, ch 2, work 3 dc, *ch 1, dc, ch 1, work 3, ch 2, 3 dc in the ch 2 space, *Repeat around,  sl st in the beg of the chain 3, Fasten off and Weave in ends.
