Crochet Thanksgiving Turkey Coaster Tutorial

 

I created this cute crochet turkey with medium worsted yarn and H and F hook. I uploaded a video if you need more help. These fun coasters are great for the holidays and Thanksgiving! Kids love using these for their drinks and to decorate the table with. It measures about 4 inches across. 


Rnd 1: In the Magic Circle work ch 3, 11 dc, sl st on top of the chain 3. -12 dc

Rnd 2: Ch 3, work dc in the same stitch, work 2 dc in the each stitch around, sl st on top of the chain 3. -24 dc

Rnd 3: Ch 3, work dc in the same stitch, work 2 dc in the each stitch around, sl st on top of the chain 3.

Feathers:

Rnd 1: sl st with into the circle, work sc in the next 19 stitches, ch 1, Turn

Rnd 2:  sl st in the 1st stitch, skip next two stitches, *work 7 dc in the next stitch, skip the next 2 stitches, *Repeat 3 more times. sl st

Head: 

Row 1: with brown yarn, sl st, sc in the next 4 stitches, ch 1, Turn

Row 2 - 4 sc, ch 1, turn.


Row 3 - 2 sc in 1st sc, 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, ch 1, turn.

Row 4 - 6 sc, ch 1, turn.

Row 5 - sc 2 together decrease, 2 sc, sc 2 tog, ch 1, turn.

Row 6 - (sc 2 tog) 2 times, finish off.

Beak: Row 1 
With yellow yarn, attach with sc to the center of the head (make sure the beak is on the opposite side of the feathers), sc once more (2 sc total), ch 1, turn.

Row 2 - sc 2 tog, finish off.

Wattle: in the bottom of the beak, sl st with red yarn, sc in the next two stiches, ch 2, fasten off and weave in the ends. 

Feet: On the back side of the turkey*Attach yellow with a sl st to body skip over 4 stitches from bottom of feathers, ch 4, 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in the next two chains, finish off.


*on the front side of the turkey, Repeat for second leg, skip two stitches, creat the other leg.
