How to Crochet a Shell Bookmark

Crochet Shell Bookmark


These crochet bookmarks are nice to save your page when you read or make for a good gift!

Abbreviations:
sc=single crochet
dc=double crochet
sl st=slip stitch
ch=chain
Materials:
Thread yarn, multi-colored, and white, or whatever yarn you prefer
2.10 mm size hook
Start with multi-colored thread yarn
Row 1: Ch 8, sl st in the first ch to form a ring. 
ch 3 (for a dc), (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc), dc in the ring, Turn, *Ch 3, Work (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in the center of the previous chain 2 space of the shell, dc in top Chain 3. Repeat from * until 17 shell rows have been worked, fasten off when you end with dc in the previous row.
Edge: white thread yarn
Row 1. Sl st in the beginning ch 6 ring, Work 6 dc in the ring, ch1
Row 2.  along edge, work 6 dc in the chain 3 space,
Rows 3-16. on the edge, *work 3 dc in the next chain 3 space, *Repeat this row, 14 times
Row 17. work 6 dc in the next chain 3 space, ch 1
Row 18. work 6 dc in the chain 2 space, ch 1
Row 19. work 6 dc in the dc space on the opposite side,
Rows 20-33.  work on the opposite edge side, work 3 dc in next dc space, Repeat this row, 14 times
Row 34.  work 6 dc in the dc space,  ch 1, sl t in the beginning dc of the previous shell. Fasten off. Weave in the ends.
