I created this crochet multi-colored rectangle pattern with an I hook and medium worsted yarn. You can you make it larger with a larger hook. This is done in multiples of 4. 



Chain 44
Row 1: dc in the 4th chain from the hook, work 2dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the same space, ch 2, 3 dc, 

along the same row, *Ch 1, skip 3 chains, work 3 dc, *Repeat along the chain 

at the end the last chain, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, work on the opposite side

Ch 1, *3 dc in the center of the previous 3 dc, Ch 1, *Repeat in each center, across the row 
sl st into the ch 3

Rnd 2: sl st in a new color yarn,  Ch 3, work 2 dc in the ch 1 space, ch 1, in the corner, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, 3dc, ch 2, 3 dc, 
ch 1, *3 dc, ch 1 *Repeat across, to the corner, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, *3 dc, ch 1, *Repeat across, sl st into the ch 3

Rnd 3: sl st in a new color yarn, Ch 3, work 2 dc in the ch 1 space, ch 1, in the corner, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, 3dc, ch 1, 3dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, 
*3 dc, ch 1 *Repeat across, to the corner,
3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, *3 dc, ch 1, *Repeat across, sl st into the ch 3

Rnd 4: sl st in a new color yarn, Ch 3, work 2 dc in the ch 1 space, ch 1, in the corner, 
3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, 3dc, ch 1, 3dc, ch 1, 
3dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1,
*3 dc, ch 1 *Repeat across, to the corner, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1, 3dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, *3 dc, ch 1, *Repeat across, sl st into the ch 3

**Repeat Rnd 4 for everyone round, just make sure along the edge in between the corners that you add ch 1, 3dc, for every round you create.

Hello. I have question. How do I keep going with the same color if I'm not changing colors on each round? Thank you.

you can do it two ways, fasten off and add the same color into the chain 1 space, or you can keep going after you sl st into the ch 3, you can slip stitch into the chain 2 space, and crochet 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc to create the corner.
