Crochet Child's Skirt Pattern

Enjoy this cute Crochet 12-Month-old Sashay yarn top.  I made this crochet top pattern for my daughter. I wanted to find another way to use the Sashay yarn, so I made this cute shirt. I was happy to make a video to go with this pattern since I figured it may be a little tricky to attach the sashay yarn to the top. I measured this top for another 12 months; my daughter had to make sure the measurements were correct.

If you tell others about my work, please only link back to my blog, but don't copy my patterns to your site. Also you can sell anything you make from my patterns, but don't sell the free pattern. Thank you!

Supplies: Red Heart White yarn, or whatever yarn you prefer
Sashay yarn black and white, 1 ball for the toddler size.
White yarn, I hook
You will make 2 sides then connect the shirt together at the end of this pattern.
You will start the pattern at the bottom of the shirt.
Chain 42
Row 1. sc in the 2nd chain from the hook -41sc
Row 2. ch 1. dc in each stitch across, turn, -41dc
Row 3. ch 1. dc in back loops and each stitch across, turn -41dc
Row 4. ch 1. dc regular loops and each stitch across, turn -41dc
Row 5. ch 1.  2dctog decrease in first two dc in the back loops and dc in the back loops in each stitch across, 2dctog in the last two dc stitches in the back loops -39dc
Row 6. ch 1. dc in the regular loops and each stitch across, turn -39dc
Row 7. ch 1. dc in back loops and each stitch across, turn -39dc
Row 8. ch 1. dc in the regular loops and each stitch across, turn -39dc
Row 9. ch 1.  2dctog decrease in twice in the back loops and dc in the back loops in each stitch across, 2dctog in the last 4 dc stitches in the back loops, turn -35dc
Row 10. ch 1. dc in the regular loops and each stitch across, turn -35dc
Row 11. ch 1. dc in back loops and each stitch across, turn -35dc
Row 12. ch 1. dc in the regular loops and each stitch across, turn -35dc
Row 13.  ch 1. 2dctog decrease in first two dc in the back loops and dc in the back loops in each stitch across, 2dctog in the last two dc stitches in the back loops, turn -33dc
Row 14.  ch 1. 2dctog decrease in first two dc in the regular loops and dc in the regular loops in each stitch across, 2dctog in the last two dc stitches, turn -29dc
Row 15. ch 1.  2dctog decrease in twice in the back loops and dc in the back loops in each stitch across, 2dctog in the last 4 dc stitches in the back loops, turn -25dc
Row 16.  ch 1. 2dctog decrease in twice in the regular loops and dc in the regular loops in each stitch across, 2dctog in the last 4 dc stitches, turn -21dc
Row 17. ch 1. dc in the next three stitches in the back loops, sc in the next 15 stitches in the back loops, dc in the last 3 stitches, turn  -21 stitches
Row 18. ch1. dc in the next three stitches in the regular loops, hdc in the next stitch, slip stitch in each in the next 13 stitches, hdc in the next stitch, dc in the last three stitches, turn -21 stitches
Make 4 straps
Straps, continue on from the top of the shirt, since you turned, continue on,
Rows 1-5. ch 1. hdc in the next 3 stitches, turn  -3hdc (Repeat this 4 more times) fasten off.
Then to do the next strap, slip stitch on the beginning of the opposite side of the other strap,
Row 1. ch 1. hdc in the same stitch as the sl st., then hdc in the next two stitches, turn -3hdc
Rows 2-5. ch 1. hdc in the next 3 stitches, turn  -3hdc (Repeat this 3 more times) Fasten off.
Now you will connect the two side together.  Stop sewing at Row 16., this will be the arms holes, you want to keep the arm holes open and not sewed.
I put the two pieces together but with the back loops sides facing inward, I want to sew the sides together then turn it inside out, then the back loops will be facing outward after you sew it and turn it inside out. You will need the back loops to sew in the Sashay yarn in the back loops.
So sew each sides together until you reach Row 16, make sure each back loop in the same rows matches each other, then fasten off, this will be where the arm holes begin. Then sew the two ends of the straps together for both straps.
 Ruffles:
Sashay yarn.
Sashay Ruffle: Ballet, F hook

Rounds for Sashay skirt:  f hook for ruffles
Rnd 5. start in round 5 for ruffles. *Create the Sashay Ruffle on the hook first by folding the yarn inward about an inch, and inserting the hook in the 2nd loop from the beginning of the fold. Skip two loops on the sashay yarn, insert the hook in the 3rd hook on the yarn and pull through the loops on the hook. (video explains this)
In Round 5, Insert your hook with the Sashay ruffle that you create (directions above) in the first sc back loop at the back seam. skip one loop on the sashay yarn and insert the hook in the next sashay yarn loop and pull the sashay yarn loop through the skirt back loop and sashay yarn loop, this will create the 2nd ruffle. So Insert your hook in each dc back loop for each round. Then skip one loop on the sashay yarn loop and then pull through both loops. *Repeat for each row for ruffles (Now you can do ruffles all the way around the front and back for round 5. or just do ruffles in the front, I just did ruffles in the front.)
Rnds 6-8: Skip rnds 6-8, of back loops, then start a row of ruffles in the end 9 of back loops.
Rnd 9. *Repeat Row of Ruffles (same ruffles as round 5. same as above.)
Rnds 10-12. Skip 3 rows of back loops
Rnd 13. *Repeat the Row of Ruffles (same as above.) and fasten off.
Leave the rest of the rounds unworked unless you want more ruffles, then continue on.
