I made this for my daughter who is 2 1/2 years old. Her foot is toddler 7 shoe size. When you get to the length of the slipper, measure your child's foot. My daughters foot measured 6 inches, and before I slip stitched it closed, I put it on her foot to check if it fit.
If you tell others about my work, please only link back to my blog, but don't copy my patterns to your site. Also you can sell anything you make from my patterns, but don't sell the free pattern. Thank you!
Abbreviations:
ch=chain
sl st=slip stitch
sc=single crochet
hdc=half double crochet
sl st=slip stitch
sc=single crochet
hdc=half double crochet
K hook
Toe: Chain 2, work 8 hdc in the 2nd chain from the hook. sl st -8 hdc
Rnd 2: *Work 2 hdc in the next stitch, hdc in the next, *Repeat around, sl st
Rnd 3- cont.: Hdc in each hdc around, (work in continual rounds without a slip stitch, use a marker)*Repeat this round until the toe Reaches 3.5 inches long, about 1/2 inch away from the ankle, that was about 6 rounds
Down below are more instructions
Next Rounds: This is the opening of the Slipper where the foot goes in: Now Chain 1, and Turn, *hdc in each hdc around until you reach the marker from the last round, Chain 1 and Turn, *Repeat this until your slipper reaches 7.5-8 inches long, (7 more rounds) But at the last round, work a hdc in the next 4 hdc, slip stitch in the next 6 hdc, hdc in the rest of the hdc, (this will round off the end)
Once your slipper reaches the length to fit your child, then take the ends of the last round, and slip stitch across to close it for the heel. Then at the end, I turn it inside out, so the heel seem won't show. Now fasten off and weave in the ends.
Now For the Crocodile Stitch Part:
With your yarn Attach the yarn in the middle of the top part of heel.
Single crochet around the opening of the bootie once. sl st. -20 sc (make that sc an odd number, your number may vary for each child) Make you end with 20 sc around.
